Almada Guesthouse

This Porto hotel - actually a guesthouse, but in my opinion a 4 * hotel has nothing on this - was a great discovery. It's less than 5 minutes walk from downtown, close to a metro stop, so you don't need transport to visit the central points of interest (Bolhao market, the church and tower, Lello bookshop and Irma, Sao Bento station, Cafe Majestic and even the wineries of Vilanova de Gaia). The hous has eight rooms, all fully renovated, and each room has a unique style. There's a communal kitchen where breakfast is served during the stay, but you can eat or drink anything that is served at breakfast (juice, coffee, tea, fruit, bread and jam) at any time of day, in addition to using the kitchen for whatever you want.
