best preserved temple

This temple is one of the best preserved of the Roman Forum. It was protected from destruction by its transformation into the church of San Lorenzo during the Middle Ages. It has a large façade with a staircase and columns. It's frieze is very well preserved. The temple was built by Antoninus Pius during the second century after Christ in honor of his wife, Empress Faustina. Faustina was deified in the same year of her death.
