Playa Aviones

This huge beach, just 15 minutes from San Juan, is a favourite for surfers in the area, but you don't need to be a surfer to enjoy it. It's perfect for children who want to learn the sport, or for anyone who simply wants to take a dip in water that's almost always crystal clear. In the morning, you can spend a few hours watching the surfers and occasionally going into the water, then later wander around the kiosks and restaurants. Sunday is the day when you'll find the best ambiance, but also the biggest crowds. Just off the beach is Boriqua, a great spot where you can try freshly-made Puerto Rican specialties and quench your thirst with a coconut water (I recommended adding rum ...).
