Much more than a bank

The building of the Bank of Spain is not exactly a tourist spot, but if one of the most representative buildings of Madrid in a period of prosperity, full of great and monumental urban projects. It is located in the Plaza de Cibeles, at the corner of the Paseo del Prado and Alcalá Street. Maybe not impress much because it is surrounded by impressive buildings such as the Palacio de Telecomunicaciones (or post, as it is popularly called), now home of the City of Madrid and the Metropolis Building, which was called "The Coffin", by how little it occupies. Neighbor square is the Palacio de Linares and a few meters away from the Puerta de Alcala. Still, this building has an impressive design, typical of prevailing tastes in the nineteenth century when it was built. Not be visited, but sometimes has opened its doors to the public, as in the White Night and some have been enjoying inside, where we could see his library (which was the antique bank office) or the immense staircase Carrara marble.

This building is striking in its architectural beauty, it impresses with its sumptuous decor. It is so nice that you may get stuck in the front for many minutes. So it is no coincidence that attracts many tourists every year.
