The Magic of Es Vedra

Excellent

I really admire the earth’s magnetic forces and those “special” places where strange things happen. One of them is the Triángulo del Silencio (The Silence Triangle). Its vertexes, three high tips surrounded by water, the rock of Ifach en Calpe, the Dragonera Island southeast of Mallorca and Es Vedra southeast of Ibiza.

The say that compasses sometimes distort its north while sailing this waters, carrier pigeons lose its way and never come back, mysterious sounds can be heard at night, lights go in and out of the sea, place where numerous UFO have been sighted.

The most emblematic of this three “pyramids” is the magical island of Es Vedra, an almost vertical wall that continues to the bottom of the sea with the maximum depth of the coastal waters of Ibiza, which makes it a rocky iceberg, a fantastic and mysterious place where it is easy to relax.

It must be said that many of this stories come from “stoned” minds. Mike Oldfield lived there for a long period of time, and this islet inspired his album Voyager and Tubular Bells.

Why Does Ibiza Attract All Kinds of People?

I have a lot to write about Ibiza, my home for 7 years and where I found many beautiful corners. And why not start with Es Vedra, mysterious rock that emerges from the sea. It has a big rock and a smaller rock, called Es Vedranell.

It is a symbol of the island for many of us who have been there, and it has a lot of energy. You can see it from Cala d’Hort, even though I recommend watching the sunset from the cliffs that will take you to Atlantis (a beautiful cove of difficult access).

To get there, you need to take the San José road until de detour that takes you to Cala d’Hort and, several coves ahead, after the town of San José, you have to follow the signs that signal this cove. In the last crossing before arriving, instead of turning left like it says, you will continue straight on a dirt road until you have to halt.

There you can leave the car and continue walking. The paths are visible and will take you close to the cliffs. With some luck there won’t be any clouds and the sun will paint the sea orange, which will leave you speechless.

Then you will feel why Ibiza has attracted all kinds of people throughout the years. Some of you may think that it’s because of the parties, but luckily it’s not only that. When the good weather begins, there are people that go there to do yoga, taking advantage of the energy of this rock in the sunrise and sunset. Once there was even a hippie that lived there nourishing himself with the sunsets.

There are many legends surrounding this majestic rock, so if one day you miss a party and come see it, I believe that you will have won (and saved money, since looking at it is free!)

Definitivamente hay sitios que tienen una magia especial, que solo por estar allí sientes que te recargan energía. Una energía que simplemente te envuelve y te llena y nunca entiendes por que. Este definitivamente es uno de ellos, un sitio en que el universo hace alguna extraña magia que nunca sabes como te va afectar, ni cuanto va a durar su efecto, mucho menos pensar que afecta a todas las personas por igual. Un lugar para enamorarse, para sentir el sol del atardecer en la piel, un sitio simplemente para contemplar la grandeza del mar, un lugar para vivir tu propia experiencia. Después de haber visto miles de atardeceres en mucho sitios del mundo, este no te dejará indiferente. Ciertamente descubrir lugares como estos en Ibiza, que contrastan con la idea preconcebida que tenemos de la isla, hacen de Ibiza toda una experiencia. No es una playa al uso, es mas, es una antigua cantera de piedra arenisca, donde la antigua explotación ha dejado una serie de "terrazas" y piscinas naturales donde, si logras bajar al mar, bañarse es toda una experiencia. Para acceder hay que andar cerca de media hora, por senderos que te llevan a lo largo de la costa, un paseo para tomárselo con calma y disfrutar del paisaje. Sin duda un lugar para repetir y compartir!

Cala d'Hort

Cala bastante grande ya se puede decir que es una playa no una cala. El dia que yo fui hacia viento y hacia que la playa cristalina i tranquila estubiera con olas, revuelta y sucia. No me gusto mucho aunque nos quedamos un rato por un rincon ya que estaba toda completamente llena de gente. Complicado con el aparcamiento hay caminos, pero son estrechos, la gente estaba aparcada por todos lados y se tenia que ir con cuidado al pasar con el coche. Al entrar encima de la playa a la izquiera hay una boutique no entramos pero parecia mona, muy del estilo ibicenco. En la parte derecha encontramos un cartel donde nos explicaba sobre las 2 grandes piedras que sobresalen enfrente de la playa, que son reservas naturales.

Ha sido uno de los atardeceres mas bonitos que he podido contenplar en toda mi vida. Para llegar hay que ir desde Ibiza hasta la carretera por el Puerto de San Antonio, enfrente de Cala d´Hort. El acceso a los islotes es exclusivamente por mar y en embarcaciones privadas y con permiso. Considerado en las islas como lugar mágico, con una enorme ferza enigmática que miles de personas afirman haber sentido. Investigadores de los fenómenos paranormales aseguran que parece existir una relación directa de la zona con el fenómeno OVNI y afirman que Es Verá forma parte del llamado “Triangulo del silencio”, formado entre Es Vedrá, el imponente Peñón de Ifach y la costa suroeste de Mallorca, con efectos muy parecidos al famoso Triangulo de las Bermudas. Los colombófilos saben perfectamente que en este “Triangulo” las palomas mensajeras pierden el sentido de la orientación.

Cala Dhor

Es la tercera vez que voy a Ibiza y son duda es mi cala favorita. Lo único malo es la cuesta que hay que subir si no aparcas abajo y las piedrecitas que hay para entrar al agua. El resto, espectacular. El restaurante que hay justo en la entrada de la cala, hace una de las mejores paellas de marisco que he probado en mi vida. Si vas a Ibiza no puedes perdértela!!!!.

It is the third time I go to Ibiza and are definitely my favorite cove. The only downside is the hill you have to climb down and if you park there for the pebbles into the water. The rest, spectacular. The restaurant that is right at the entrance of the cove, makes one of the best seafood paella I've had in my life. If you can not miss Ibiza!!.

Llegar en coche a la Cala d'Hort tras seguir un camino de tierra en no demasiadas buenas condiciones es una recompensa magnífica, visto desde la altitud que nos ofrece el acantilado en el que nos encontramos, su playa y las pequeñas islas frente a la orilla del mar dibujan un cuadro de difícil olvido. Decir que ver un atardecer aquí es una de vuestras apuestas seguras en Ibiza es quedarse corto, disfrutaréis de imágenes que pensábais que no veríais nunca en la realidad. Garantizado.
