Casa Melo Alvim

At the end of the Ave Two Combatentes da Grande Guerra ,next to the shopping Estação Viana Shopping, you will find the Casa dos Melo Alvim, the oldest building in the city (the year 1509), which has been converted into a hotel and restaurant. The palace was expanded several times over its history, and given the Baroque and Portuguese Manueline. In the process of restoration it has managed to keep the original structure, with its inner cloister and its gardens. It it two stories high with only 20 rooms, each decorated differently, but in an old style, with wooden furniture and Louis XIV-type canopy beds.
