Cashapampa

Cashapampa is traditionally the starting point of the trek from Santa Cruz, but for us it was the point of arrival, as we embarked on the journey from the opposite direction. Cashapampa is a tiny village located near the gorge of Santa Cruz. It is small, but is the only place nearby that has basic services. It has a store, bus service, and a school for all of the children that live nearby. People living in this place work in livestock and agriculture, although there is increasing work in tourism making porters with their donkeys, ie, are in charge of carrying all the luggage of tourists who make the trek.
