Kippen Old Churchyard

1 review of Kippen Old Churchyard

Sadly in ruins

In a forgotten corner of the village of Kippen, past an old stone wall, we find the remains of the medieval chapel of Kippen - which today is just a bell tower and a foundation - and the historic cemetery of the town, with more than a thousand years of history.

An old fence with a rusty padlock and heavy chains is the first hint that things aren't as they should be ... a sign tells us that the key is in the store, but the shopkeeper insisted that we buy something in exchange for access. It would be easy enough to climb over the wall ... and within you can find what remains of the old church, a typical medieval church from medieval Scotland, not much bigger than a house and with a gabled roof and a small bell.
