Ki Chaam Festival (Final Ceremony)

This spectacular dance of nine monks wearing the best masks they had in their closet was the end to an incredible day that the Gods, (I guess Buddhists) gave me in the middle of my journey. I was traveling from Manali in the center of Himachal Pradesh to Leh, the center of Lakak which is another province further north. The day had ended, the sun was beginning to fall and the colors that surrounded me were beautiful. The stands filled with women and girls in traditional costumes was a burst of color and authenticity. There was a mix of young and the old from the village of Keylong and surrounding areas and monks of this monastery and other nearby ones.
