Dai toni baroccheggianti
La Chiesa del Sacro cuore di Gesù di [poi=2194470]Gerace[/poi], si presenta con l'elegante facciata del secolo XVIII, ad angoli smussati dai toni "baroccheggianti" . Costruita sull'antico impianto di Santo Stefano ad una sola navata col nome di Santa Maria della Sanità, distrutta dal flagello del 1783 e ricostruita dalla confraternita nel 1851. Il soffitto è rigorosamente decorato da stucchi con scene che richiamano l'antico testamento , il pavimento in maiolica originario dell'epoca. Ancora all'interno troviamo un bellissimo organo a canne in parte funzionante. Il campanile è di forma quadrangolare. La Chiesa appartiene all'omonima confraternita già dal 1829.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Gerace, presents the elegant façade of the eighteenth century, with rounded corners tones "baroque". Built on the installation of Santo Stefano with a single nave with the name of Santa Maria della Sanità, destroyed by the plague of 1783 and rebuilt in 1851 by the brotherhood. The ceiling is decorated with stucco strictly with scenes that recall the Old Testament, the original tiled floor at the time. Still inside there is a beautiful pipe organ in the running. The bell tower is square in shape. The Church belongs to the homonymous brotherhood since 1829.
