The Gardens of St. Stephen's Basilica

1 review of The Gardens of St. Stephen's Basilica

The lung of the city

Mount Celio is one of the famous 7 hills of Rome and is designed as a magnificent park, the Villa Celimontana. Within it are some traces of history in Roman remains such as the Basilica Hilaria, the aqueduct carrying water to the Domus Aurea of Nerón and two of the oldest churches in Rome (Santa Maria in Domenica and Santo Stefano Rotondo). In addition to its curious round shape it has one of the most beautiful gardens in Italy (considered the lung of the city) with dense vegetation and a variety of species, it can almost be considered as a beautiful garden.
