Crocodile Ranch

Entre Windhoek e Etosha National Park está a cidade de Otjiwarongo. Ali existe uma fazenda que para pessoas que não moram na Africa é bem exótica, pois trata-se de uma fazenda de crocodilos! Decidimos parar na Crocodile Ranch pois além de poder ver a criação desses enormes répteis, o local também é bem conhecido por seu restaurante agradável e saboroso. De fato é muito bom! Depois de comermos começamos a visita com uma guia local que nos explicou um pouco sobre o funcionamento da fazenda e do modo de vida dos crocodilos. Ali há centenas de crocodilos! Alguns ficam expostos ao público, mas a maioria fica nos bastidores do rancho. A visita é curta, mas muito legal! Pudemos acompanhar os animais em diversos tamanhos, desde recém nascidos ( que até pudemos pegar nas nossas mãos! ) até o mais velhos que já tem mais de 50 anos. Como toda fazenda, estes bichos são criados para o abate. Sua carne é utilizada na culinária de diversos países africanos, e seu couro é usado para a fabricação de cintos, sapatos e bolsas. Between Windhoek and Etosha National Park est town of Otjiwarongo. Here there is a farm that for people who live in the Africa and exotic because it is a crocodile farm! We decided to stop in Crocodile Ranch because besides being able to see the creation of these huge reptiles, the place is also well known for its pleasant and tasty restaurant. Very good indeed! After eating we started the visit with a local guide who explained a little about the operation of the farm and the crocodile living. There for hundreds of crocodiles! Some are exposed to the public, but most is on the ranch behind the scenes. A short visit, but very cool! We were able to track the animals in various sizes, from newly born (at that we get in our hands!) At the elders who already have more than 50 years. On apprend pas mal de choses pendant la visite sur l'élevage de crocodiles. Les specimens qu'on peut admirer sont en fait les reproducteurs, nés dans le Kunene et qui depuis 20 ans produisent les crocodiles élevés pour leur peau et leur viande. On peut aussi voir des crocodiles à plusieurs âges différents. Et ensuite un tour au restau adjacent pour goûter la viande !
