Day 4 Manaslu Trek

Leaving Jagat, following once more the Budhi Gandaki river, we get our first fine view of the high peaks of Himal Shringi. As we walk, we start to pass mani walls and stupas indicative of the increasing Tibetan influence in the villages of the area. Morning tea is at Philim, where I get to have a 'Harry Potter Moment'.

Sipping hot black tea with a tiny, wide eyed owl for company. We pass a series of spectacular waterfalls, shimmering with wind blown rainbows, before arriving for lunch in Elke Bhatti. We are served generous portions of dal bhat by an extremely hospitable family.

In the next village we pass through (Nyak), we unwittingly join a highway robbery party. The younger generation are celebrating the Tihar festival. For a small donation we are allowed to enter the village and are treated to a vigorous display of dancing to Nepalese pop. During this festival brothers and sisters exchange gifts and crows and ravens get special treatment.
