More than just a bridge

The Pont des Arts is the most visited bridge in Paris along with the Pont Neuf. It’s more than just a way of crossing the Seine, it’s an experience. It’s built of wood and iron and connects the Louvre courtyard with the Institut de France which houses various academies like the Academy of Science and Academy of Fine Arts.

The Pont des Arts hosts various events throughout the year like art and photography exhibits or the annual “Fête de la Musique” celebration. These exhibits and events have a wide tourist appeal, but really it’s the locals that give them their charm: a mix of groups of friends, lone bohemians, musicians, and travelers that gives the whole affair a touch of romanticism.

Whether you go just for a quick sit or an afternoon spent exploring, you’ll always find a welcoming atmosphere and high quality of work at the Pont des Arts. There are benches to sit, but not many. Make sure to bundle up in winter!

arts bridge

The wooden arts bridge crosses the Seine, connecting the Louvre to the Institute of France (seen in the photo). What I love about this bridge is its location. It is well located and you won't deviate much from the classic circuit of the Louvre, Tuileries, Concorde, and Arc de Triomphe to see it.

Pont des Arts, Paris

It was great to watch people from all over the world dancing, drinking wine, playing guitar and singing in lovely evening light on Pont des Arts. And, of course, enjoy of iconic views to Seine and Ile de la Cite.

A work of art

More than just a bridge, this is a meeting point and, like all bridges in Paris, a work of art. The atmosphere is both young and touristy and it’s a perfect place to take a break and enjoy the sunshine.
