Drying Fish

In Iceland there do strange things that are not exactly pleasant, as is the case of the traditional fish drying of the Reykjanes Peninsula. It was completely empty, there was not a soul about. And the truth is that I'm not surprised by the plague that was caused by the dried fish. The fish dryer is built with large wooden sticks on the volcanic sand and the fish are left to hang, drying in the sun. The one we visited is quite a way from the cities and there wasn't another living thing to be seen. Despite the foul smell it is an intriguing place to see, as they still follow the same ancient techniques from times gone by.
