Founded in 1837

This museum was founded in 1837 by Pope Gregory XVI and hosted many archaeological discoveries of the nineteenth century. It was in this century when curiosity was aroused about the origin of Roman culture by Italians. The Etruscans had great influence over the primitive Romans of "Lazio" who owe them much of their system of organization, trade and art. This museum has especially fine terra cotta pottery and objects of bronze, gold and silver.
