Las Fuentes de Algar

In reality, the fountains or pools that have formed here are spectacular. You'll enjoy each and every one of them. The path they made is great and anyone can follow it up to the top, even the elderly. Many people come to see the waterfalls and enjoy a moment in nature, but now you have to pay for everything (parking, to see the sights, to enter in certain areas…). It’s a truly delightful walk, but a little expensive for my liking.

Once in Callosa d’en Sarria, just follow the signs to get to the falls. It should only be about a 5 minute car drive.

Algar Falls is located between the many municipalities of Callosa d’Ensarria y Bolulla. It’s a beautiful place. It was my first time there and I absolutely loved it. I’ll definitely go back!

It’s essentially a chain of natural springs and waterfalls coming from the mountain and flowing into the Algar river that have formed some small lagoons. Although this natural paradise used to be open to the public free of charge, tourism and heavy traffic have led to entrance fees being charged to those who want to visit. It costs 3€ for adults and 1.50€ for kids. There are also several parking areas where you can leave your car, for 3€, of course. It’s not that bad considering there are guards who watch over your car and the price is for the whole day.

Very close to Benidorm or Altea, but located more towards the mountain, lies one of the most important secrets of the area: Algar falls. The first time you visit you have no idea that you’re about to stumble on a waterfall of that size. It’s worth the trip just for that alone! But even after visiting, you’ll keep wanting to go back to see it again and find things you haven’t seen before.

It’s perfect for a day or half-day trip to go swimming in the mountain’s river. Bring a sandwich or grab something from the food and beverage stands and take a dip in the lagoon. It’s amazing, beautiful
