A beautiful building

The Embassy of France in Romania is in Biserica Amzei Street, near the victory street. It is a beautiful building that was formerly a private bourgeois house, occupied by a wealthy businessmen of the city. In the golden age of the second half of the nineteenth century, after Romania celebrated her independence, won following war with Turkey, rich Romanian families built beautiful houses around this neighbourhood. The French Cultural Center is also nearby, with a large library, magazines and guidebooks. French used to be the main language of communication in the high society of Bucharest. As Romania is part of the European Union, you can travel freely without needing a visa, and there are embassies of other EU countries, too, if you have a problem.
