Legend has it that the king asked St Kevin O'Tool Glendalough for his help to strengthen an old goose ve could no longer fly. St. Kevin accepted the challenge. Once the deal was agreed, St. Kevin touched the goose and it flew across the valley and it was here that the monastery was established.
