Lighthouse Beach

This beautiful fine sand beach, several miles long, is located at one end of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa. Our first intention was to do one of the many walking tours there in order to observe the herons and flamingos that migrate each winter from central and northern Europe to one of the most important wetlands in southern Europe. The weather looked like rain and we had to settle for only visiting this beautiful beach. I'm not sure that anyone will remember the Masiel song from the 60s called "ROSES IN THE SEA", but, we found a white rose abandoned in the rolling waves and we could see a glimpse of the sun on the horizon between the dark clouds.

One thing I didn't understand about this place was how an engineer could think to put an airport in this park.

Pour ceux qui veulent visiter Faro en...

Pour ceux qui veulent visiter Faro en profitant d'une excellente situation : La ville où finalement il n'y a pas tellement à voir n'est qu'à 10 minutes de bus. Nous sommes restés à Praia di Faro 3 jours et avons fait une excursion jusqu'en ville. Le reste du temps : Plage magnifique, entre océan et Ria Formosa, un petit coin de paradis. L'hôtel Aeromar, simple mais très propre et très bien situé. A 5 minutes de l'aéroport sans en avoir les inconvénients (pas de bruit). Les repas excellents et vraiment pas chers, le personnel très accueillant et gentil. Nous sommes repartis très tôt pour l'aéropot (5 h du matin), ils nous ont déposés en voiture gratuitement et nous avaient préparé notre petit déjeuner. A recommander !

For those who want to visit Faro enjoying an excellent location: The city where eventually there is not much to see is only 10 minutes by bus. We stayed at Praia di Faro 3 days and took a trip into town. The rest of the time: beautiful beach, between Ocean and Ria Formosa, a little corner of paradise. The hotel Aeromar, simple but very clean and very well located. 5 minutes from the airport without the disadvantages (no noise). Excellent and very cheap meal, the staff very friendly and welcoming. We left early for aéropot (5 am), they dropped us free and drive us had prepared our breakfast. Recommended!
