Lindisfarne Gospels Cultural Center

The Lindisfarne Center is the virtual center to maintain and propagate the history and cultural productions of the Lindifarne Holy Island. It features plenty of tourist information. You will find out that one of the main purposes of this cultural center is to inform about the Viking roots of the area as well as the existence of the Lindisfarne Gospels, a pre-medieval jewel, now in the British National Library, in London, being one of the most emblematic cultural productions of the country and the only survivor in the area. These gospels were created in the late seventh or early eighth century and are in perfect condition except that the original leather cover is missing.
