1 review of Lyabi-Hauz Square

An imposing resting place

Lyabi-Hauz Square, is a Tajik name meaning "around the pool". At its core it's a large swimming pool, built in 1620. This is a good place for a break in the Uzbek hot summers. You can also have dinner by the pond, in one of the two or three terraces that serve good kebabs and other dishes. In the afternoon, many people meet at the tables in the shade of the leafy trees, to play cards, drink tea and smoke shisha. There are wooden platforms, which look great beds, where they lie to chat and watch the world go by ... The appeal is not only in the pond and the freshness of the trees ... the whole square has several madrassas from the XVII century and a caravanserai (where the caravans passed to spend the night, or spend several days while trading).
