Summer Hotel Malakias

Maalakias is a residential complex of Savonlinna. It is located 2 miles from downtown. During the school year it houses students from the University of Applied Sciences Mikkeli there that has a campus in the city of Savonlinna. In the summer, it becomes a tourist residence with apartments consisting of one room with a large kitchen and bathroom. There are other apartments connected by the kitchen with shared bathrooms. It is an affordable way to spend the summer holidays in this city since the prices of hotels and hostels goes up a lot in the summer season, especially when during the famous opera festival which happens in the city's castle, Olavinlinna.
