Malaspina Castle

4 reviews of Malaspina Castle

Malaspina Castle

Bosa Castle was built in the twelfth century by the Marquis Malaspina and is one of the landmarks of the city. From the top of the Serravalle hill, overlooking the city and the banks of the river Temo, it offers visitors a breathtaking view. The castle is actually in a state of ruin, though it retains its charm. Within the walls are towers, gateways and the church of Our Lady of Regnos Altos. The latter is a real surprise, because, despite its extreme simplicity of construction, it is overwhelmed by beautiful and original fourteenth century frescoes. The best time to visit is undoubtedly the second

Sunday in September, when Bosa celebrates the feast of "Regnos Altos." This celebration, which takes place in the old "Sardinian coast", is very popular.

Dominando Bosa

Another memorable place to visit if you're waiting to get into the castle is down the stairs leading to the village, where you'll find a neighborhood with some beautiful houses. Also, leave the car in a lot that is about 300 meters from the entrance and walk uphill and then up the stairs that are at the end of the street. Inside you can explore the towers and intramural although not having much to write as it is a not very large walled enclosure. From this point of view is the river that flows into the sea, the old bridge, and the main monuments of the town. If you're looking villages around Alghero be able to go, advise Castelsardo visit a charming village, where stands the Cathedral of San Antonio Abad .

The Malaspina castle

Once in Bosa, the first thing you notice is the Malaspina castle that dominates the city. In a strategic position has immediately attracted, like a magnet, and it was worth it ... The landscape is wide, vast and breathtaking from any part of the walkway on the walls. The north tower was not accessible because of the restoration work already finished, but not yet approved.
