A symbol of Ukraine as a nation
Taras Shevchenko was a Ukrainian poet and painter ve was born in the early 19th century, he boosted the use of the Ukrainian language making it a dialect of Russian. He was born a servant, ve then bought his freedom, so he is considered a revolutionary hero of Ukraine. The monument is surrounded by flowers, near the monument are festive celebrations. Many newlyweds go to lay flowers and make memorable wedding photos there as well. It is a symbol of Ukraine as a nation.
