Aims to increase the understanding of the people of Australia
The National Portrait Gallery aims to increase the understanding of the identity, history, creativity and culture of Australia through portraits. The Gallery has around 400 portraits of people who have shaped Australia and that continue to shape the nation. There are spaces for temporary exhibitions, public areas including a café, shop, function room and areas for school groups.
