Nouaillé-Maupertuis

This town nestled in the middle of the plain boasts one of the most beautiful abbeys, Poitou-Charentes. It is a clear example of the French construction of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. The Nouaillé-Maupertuis Abbey pleases from the outside and makes you fall in love with it inside. Chairs, sculptures, apse with plate are prime examples of the construction. A place surrounded by nature, that seems to engulf this temple. There is a great legacy of murals, clear examples of the art form that flourished in the region during the Romanesque period.
