Old Balasore

Aquella mañana tenía yo ganas de llegar a "Old Balasore" (Balasore la vieja). El caso es que cuando nosotros (los europeos), leemos en el mapa "Balasore la vieja", creemos que estamos ante la parte vieja de la ciudad y en donde encontraremos los rincones más interesantes. Más aun cuando has leído que Balasore es una ciudad que se ha industrializado de buena manera en el último siglo. Pues no. "Old Balasore" SÍ es el barrio más viejo de la ciudad, pero esa particularidad fue la única que acerté. Hoy día "Old Balasore" es el barrio más pobre de la ciudad, en donde viven las familias más humildes. El ritmo en este barrio es frenético, como si de un barrio comercial del centro de una ciudad se tratase, pero e nivel económico del bario es deprimente, hay pobreza por todos los rincones. Y en India a la la pobreza le sigue la suciedad y la miseria, así es "old Balasore".

That morning I wanted to get to "Old Balasore" (Balasore the old woman). The fact is that when we (the Europeans), we read on the map "Balasore the old one", we believe that we are facing the old part of the city and where we will find the most interesting places. Even more so when you have read that Balasore is a city that has industrialized in a good way in the last century. Well, no. "Old Balasore" YES it is the oldest neighborhood in the city, but that particularity was the only one that was right. Today "Old Balasore" is the poorest neighborhood in the city, where the humblest families live. The pace in this neighborhood is frantic, as if it were a commercial district of the center of a city, but the economic level of the barium is depressing, there is poverty in every corner. And in India poverty is followed by dirt and misery, this is "old Balasore".
