Oristano

The Province of Oristano is in central-eastern Sardinia. Few tourists visit. The Province of Sassari is in the north in the east the Province of Nuoro, and south the provinces of Middle campidano and Cagliari. The provincial capital, Oristano, has many tourist attractions. Visitors have to see the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, built in 1200 and remodeled in Baroque style in the 18th century. he Church of San Francisco is home to a wonderful sculpture of Christ from the XV century. In Leonor Square you can find the marble monument of 1881 dedicated to Eleanor De Arborea, who guided Oristano and enacted the Logu Charter which is among the first examples of constitution in the world.
