In the ninth century there was a great lack of faith in Paderborn and the Bishop of Paderborn Madurad struggled to get the remains of a holy intercessor as people needed relics. Alderich Bishop of Le Mans gave the Bishop of Paderborn the relics of St Liborio who was Bishop of Le Mans who died on July 23, 397. According this legend, a Peacock flew in front of the relics as they were transported to the church, then perched on top of the Cathedral of Paderborn. Not only this, but the bird then entered the procession with the relics of the saint. Then, on the day of Pentecost in the year 836, it fell dead from the roof.
