Yacimiento Paleontológico de Enciso

Even though we expected something bigger, the visit to this small museum dedicated to the world of dinosaurs was interesting. They give you all the necessary documents to visit the most interesting places: the Virgen del Campo, Yacimiento de Valdecevillo, La Senoba... Apart from the footprints, we can find real size models of dinosaurs.

After taking some maps in the Paleontology Center of Enciso, we went to the site by car. You can also walk there but since we were going with small children and the sun was beating down hard and there were quite some hills, we did not hesitate.

This is one of the most important points on the Dinosaurs' Route of Enciso.

Enciso and its surroundings is a place known for its paleontology site and the dinosaurs' remains. This Paleontology Center is like an interpretation and information center about its surroundings, where we can find footprints and fossils: la Virgen del Campo, Yacimiento de Valdecevillo, La Senoba... A place where, who knows, maybe we also find some lost dinosaur. The center is not that big, but it is quite complete: they have a part where they exhibit fossils and footprints and another floor where there are audiovisual projections and didactic elements, most of them oriented to kids.

In Enciso there are many sites with dinosaurs' footprints. On the grounds of this village there are more than 1.400 recorded footprints of these ancient reptiles. The sites in La Rioja are considered among the best in the world. A good point of departure can be the Paleontology Center of Enciso.
