Casa de la Independencia

Um prédio de valor histórico nacional, antiga sede onde reuniam-se secretamente os principais protagonistas da Independência Paraguaia que ocorreu em maio de 1811. Hoje restaurada, é um museu que abriga documentos, pinturas, e mobílias da época tornando-se um valioso patrimônio cultural para a memória da nação. Vale a pena visitar!

A casa da Independência foi o local onde os libertadores do Paraguay se reuniam para destituir o poder da ditadura. Está aberta ao publico para visitação, sem nenhum tipo de taxa (bem,pelo menos aquando da minha visita). É um local bem modesto, sem grandes mobiliários de época ou ornamentações, porém a carga história é imensa. Aqui está também a primeira impressora manual do Paraguay. Era usada pelos rebeldes para a publicação do seu jornal de ações, de tentar mobilizar o povo para a liberdade. Está em perfeito estado de conservação. Localizada bem no centro de Assunção, fica próxima do palácio de Los Lopez e da Manzana de la Rivera, um centro de artes e também bar/restaurante que proporciona uma bela vista do palácio enquanto degusta uma iguaria Paraguaia ou toma um drink. Se for de noite, o espetáculo é ainda melhor, pois o palácio é iluminado na escuridão da zona portuária.
