Portovello Restaurant

The Portovello de Allariz restaurant is one of the place I recommend you eat if you visit this cute town.

It’s an old leather factory located on the shores of the Arnoi river, very close to the old quarters of Allariz, where you can enjoy one of the best kitchens in town. It specializes in traditional Gallegan cuisine.

The restaurant enjoys a privileged location in Portovello park, which is enough to make it worth a visit. There’s also an outdoor terrace where you can practically touch the river’s water with your hand while you have a drink in the spring or summer. It’s just great.

I recommend this place to anyone who goes to Allariz. It’s great – both the good and the environment are idea – and next to the river. We had eel and roasted beef tenderloin for dinner. It was exquisite and our desert of filloas with chocolate and coffee, all for 56€ for two people.

Of course, Marcos, the owner of the restaurant, was very friendly and a complete professional. There was, however, a waiter who shall remain nameless who wasn’t on top of things and forgot our wine and the desert. Good thing Marcos was there to take care of everything. We’ll go back next time we’re in Allariz.

I was here two years ago to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. The place is simply spectacular. It shares space with the leather museum, as it’s located in the same building.

We were having a few drinks in the bars in the area by the river and the atmosphere was incredible. We then went to eat dinner and I didn’t have a complaint about anything. We couldn’t take advantage of the terrace because it was full, but the food and service were great.
