Anuradhapura Railway Station

1 review of Anuradhapura Railway Station

A Nice Way to Travel

The Anuradhapura Railway Station is north of the city, near the old, but still operating, bus station, which is different from the new station further south. The train station is at the end of the Sri Maha Bodhi Avenue which leads to the temple of the sacred tree. The train is a nice way to travel around Sri Lanka, provided that you have the time. Quarter day or half day delays are common things. The Anuradhapura Railway continues northward towards Kilinochchi, the former rebel side of the island, and southward to Colombo in five or six hours. First class is not available on all trains, and second class is alright with fans and leather armchairs.
