Levanto to Monterosso walk

2 reviews of Levanto to Monterosso walk

Perfect place for a family holiday

Levanto offers a mild climate, good amenities, good public spaces for people-watching and has a wide beach ensuring a sunbed and sunshade can still be found even in high season. This makes it a perfect place for a family holiday or retirement.

You can arrive by train but I prefer the coastal path. The path starts close to Il Gigante in Monterosso. Follow the red and white signs and marks for Punta Mesco or Levanto. Initially you need to climb up 300m. so the first part is quite steep but once you reach the scenic bench the trail becomes much easier. At Punta Mesco make a short deviation to see the ruined hermitage of San Antonio and enjoy views along the Cinque Terre all the way to Portovenere. Once over the point you can now enjoy views towards Porto Fino and, on a clear day, Corsica. The trail follows the coast arriving at the castle of Levanto and then down to the seafront. Allow a minimum of 2hrs, wear sports shoes and carry water.
