Stirling

Stirling (Gaelic Sruighlea) is a city situated in central Scotland. It is an old village, situated around Stirling Castle and the old medieval center. It is also one of the 32 unitary councils and is divided administratively into Scotland. It is a center for the industries of government, commerce, and electricity. It has a population of 41,243. (2001 census). A former capital of the Scottish Kingdom, Stirling was known as Royal Burgh until 2002 when, as part of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth, it was granted the status of a city.
