Temple IV

If you are lucky enough to visit the wonderful Mayan ruins of Tikal in the north of Guatemala, I recommend you get there early, and run toward the temple IV first. The archaeological site opens at 6 am, and then if you hurry, you can climb to the top of the temple, to see the sun rise over the rainforest. It's amazing. At night you can also climb to see the sunset, but it is on the side where tourists aren't allowed. For this reason it's not so great. Temple IV is one of the few temples that you can climb in Tikal. The tip of the ruin is higher than the tree level in the forest. There are many trees and also the famous Mayan Biosphere which is a protected nature reserve.
