2 reviews of The Eagle & Child

The Eagle and Child

This pub, located in the city of Oxford, is situated very close to the Ashmolean Museum. It can be recognized by the name on the front, which is also often associated with the coat of arms of the Earl of Derby. Besides its pleasant and cozy interior, it is known for being the place where writers such as JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis (among others) met to discuss their writings and have a good time. In fact, this is also the place where the literary group called The Inklings, met. As for dining, the value is very good. I visited this pub twice. On my first I had a loin of Scottish salmon on a bed of puff pastry and onions, accompanied by a salad and potatoes.
