The Montrose Georgian home

Excellent

This vintage Georgian mansion was built overlooking the marsh known as Montrose Basin (in Montrose) in 1730 by architect William Adam for the powerful Erskine family, who had several properties in the central belt of Scotland. This house has a collection of plasterwork in most of the walls in various rooms, alluding to the values of importance to this family who inhabited the mansion for years, until one of its last members made it into a hotel (to avoid bankruptcy and loss of the property). Years later it passed to the National Trust of Scotland for its upkeep and maintenance. Just outside this magnificent building you can enjoy its huge gardens and impressive tall trees, which lie off the main facade of the house.
