Umm Obayd Temple

The Umm Obayd Temple is a temple dedicated to Amun, or rather what remains of it was: A wall, that still retains some engravings. It appears that an earthquake damaged the structure in 1877 and an Egyptian officer was ordered to dynamite it in 1897 and from the stone blocks were built a barracks and a mosque ...... that's what you call recycling! It is in Siwa, near the Temple of the Oracle. I have not commented on the previous area of Siwa, but it is easy to make the tour of the sights (there aren't many) walk, rent a bike, or in a cart pulled by a donkey who will be offered by many kids.
