Valira d'Orient

Canillo owes part of its incredible natural beauty and landscape to the river that crosses the streets and makes you suddenly stop you car as you are compelled to enjoy this exceptional part of Andorra. At the top the river Valira runs as a semi cascade, if you walk you will hear the sound of water bucking. Lower down and after passing below the village it passes through a pipeline that fits into the landscape. The river becomes calm, quiet and peaceful, the landscape is reminiscent of the Pyrenees, almost bucolic. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in winter, covered with snow! Canillo is a small village and the parishes north of Andorra are the least known.
