Templo de Virachocha - Raqchi

3 reviews of Templo de Virachocha - Raqchi

Wiraqocha Temple

According to the chroniclers Wiraqocha Temple was built by the Inca Wiraqocha in homage to the Superior Invisible God of Andean people: Apu Kon Titi Wiraqocha. It's a great building for its time,it was completely covered with wooden roof. The central wall is made very well carved stones at the base to a height of about 3 meters. And adobe upwards. That wall now 12 meters tall, but originally it would have had a height of about 16 metres. Its side walls were 1.20 metres thick and probably reached about 3 meeters high. The roof must have be impressive and covering about 2500 m² and with an inclination of 50°, it used to be supported by circular columns whose bases are still preserved.
