Adventure Activities

Franz Josef has grown from a small mountain town, near the eponymous glacier, to a place with the most adventure activities in New Zealand. You can hike to the glacier in half a day or a full day, go to the glacier by helicopter, or take scenic flights around it. The hostel is on the edge of the forest and has a mountain cabin style with fireplace, sauna access, a spacious living room and 2 kitchens. Also, it's a stop for all buses and transportation services that go through Franz Josef.
