Baroque chapel of the holy christ of ourense

One of the three wonders of Ourense, according to tradition. This chapel is inside the cathedral and not stand out if you see her with the closed gate and in semi-darkness, but to see it completely changes open and illuminated in all its glory. It is Baroque and has a realistic Christ. The opening to celebrate Masses and rosaries, their opening hours are: Weekdays: 8: 00h, 10: 00h, 11: 00h and 20: 00h. Sundays and holidays: 8: 30h to 9: 30h. Do not forget to see it open, it's worth!

Apart from the mayor, this other chap...

Apart from the Mayor, this other chapel is the one that is most striking, and is located near the north entrance. The image of Christ, also awakens a deep devotion of the people, so that there is a song playing says: "There are three things in Orense, in Spain there are: the Holy Christ, the Bridge, which are boiled and Burgas water ... ". It is a Christ crucified, gothic, two meters high, with real hair and beard, who is given miracles. He was brought here in the fourteenth century by Bishop Vasco Pérez Mariño from Finisterre, where he was found floating in the sea. The chapel dedicated to him is closed by a gate, so you have to admire it through the bars, the decoration is an authentic splendor, very heavy and completely treated in gold in the purest Baroque style. It was built by Francisco Castro Canseco at the end of the seventeenth century. There are also other blades and a small alabaster Virgin. In this chapel there is also a large part of the choir stalls of the Cathedral, carved by Diego de Solís y Juan de Anges.
