On the sea, look to the east.

A long climb and there seems to be even more in Formentera, one of the beaches for which it is known at least. The road that leads to Pilar de la Mola is fraught for real and after passing through the small village and the fields of the hill here is that there is silhouetted in front of the lighthouse. Abandoned scooter (scooter one day after a week of bike tour to the island), you can walk along rough trails that go bump in the grass burned small plots next to the lighthouse (which instead is private property). And in a few steps you are literally overlooking the sea. Facing east. Gulls rising from the water, are close to the rocks, sing and come back down. The nature here is really a charm. The wind in your hair, the sound of waves crashing on the rocks, the sun closer and, once again, no one around. It is imperative to stop and relax. Harmony and reflection are natural. Emotion. Returning to the Lighthouse, on one side of the street you see a kiosk, open from afternoon until late evening. You lose the nature and back to Formentera, as it is known to most people. But be careful not to confuse it with Ibiza!

El far de la mola is set in the highe...

El Far de la Mola is set in the highest point of the island, I think some 192 meters above sea level. When you get there, you're faced head on with the lighthouse, majestic and imposing, shining his light when dusk arrives. Surrounded by cactus and a nuclear whiteness highlights the turquoise sea that surrounds it, when you surround yourself with, you get to the cliff which involves the sea. And that's when freak, shadow of the lighthouse is reflected in the water, and sit on a rock and watch the sea until you lose your eyes on the horizon can not be explained. Every time we go, and that happens every year, we repeated the same ritual. Always go the last day, taking the hippy market making in the town of Pilar de la Mola is, and leave it to the last day why the lighthouse is like closing the island. And we said goodbye to her, from there until the following year.

A ride film

I had seen some pictures of the Faro de la Mola, the views from and around the road that leads there, but seeing it in person impressed me even more. This corner by one of its magnificent beaches, was the most photographed express my trip to this Mediterranean jewel. Apparently looks abandoned, but apparently still doing its job, which makes sense since Formentera has only one port as transportation to other islands or the mainland. It is also worth observing from atop the cliff infinity resulting from there the Mediterranean Sea.

The lighthouse, infinity ....

Along with the beautiful beaches and the lizards, the lighthouse of La Mola is one of the symbols of Formentera. After a long journey of hairpin bends uphill, after the unforgettable view of the island from the viewpoint of Es Mirador, and after crossing the small hippy village, complete with a street market in El Pilar de la Mola, we come finally to the lighthouse, which overlooking a wide expanse of cliffs overlooking the sea. From here the view is breathtaking, you can see the sea, little seems well written, but I had the impression of seeing the infinite.

From Denia, in the summer of 2014, we took a ferry to Formentera, a couple of hours away. Upon reaching the island, rented a bike and rode it to us whole. A spectacular journey. The island is magical and you can see the most important points in one day. At 9 pm we returned to Denia after a really fantstica day. 100% recommended, although Podis spend more days all the better.

Visit the little shops full of crafts and all kinds of people, find a corner on the floor to listen as they set off the evening, enjoy dinner and a few drinks and ... Waking up with the sun breaking through the vastness of the sea under a lighthouse.

After peaceful early to photograph this lighthouse at dawn and when the team gathered, appeared as if by magic, that wonderful boat. Some magic moments, before complete ascension of the Sun.
