A spot not to be missed

The Plaza Redonda (Round Plaza) is a corner of Valencia, that wandering aimlessly, I found ... It has four entrances, one from the Plaza de Lope de Vega, and it is very near Valencia Cathedral.

As the name suggests, it has a circular plan. Forming another circle within the plaza, and around a fountain (also round :-)), there are painted wooden huts, antique, home to a business that in other cities is disappearing in silence: haberdashery. Indeed, it sells all kinds of threads, Pearls, lace...

Most traders are elders, and if you stay wandering around long enough taking photos or simply contemplating the ensemble, you can see how they sell, how they advise their clients, the old-fashioned way.

The outer perimeter, is made up of the houses themselves, it is also full of business’ premises, mostly selling crafts, one is a restaurant. You can see that it has been rehabilitated and they all show off wooden shutters that look good on this entirety.

Not to be missed, outside of all the usual tourist routes, it is worth a look, stay a while.

Very traditional

It is a place in Valencia that I loved, as I went in the early hours of the morning, and I do not know if it is always like this, but there were only a few old ladies gathered sewing precious fabrics. The Plaza Redonda has a circular shape obviously, it is in a very central location in the old district, and around it everything is pedestrian, meaning once you are inside the plaza you hardly hear any noise.

In the upper plaza there are some houses with the same rounded shape and a there is also a fountain in the centre. It was a plaza built for commercial transactions, particularly for selling meat and fish. But now you find above all haberdasheries, household items stores, all still quite traditional, there are not many tourist souvenirs. The women sit and work together, chatting and laughing. On the weekend it is a little market with more people.

Centre for street vendors

Nestled in the heart of the Ciutat Vella (Old town), the beautiful Plaza Redonda, which currently is being renovated, was built in 1840. This Valencian corner full of flavour has four entrances and a central fountain, and is locked on the upper floor by a ring of three-storey houses with iron balconies.

At present, this place, crammed with tiny shops, is a centre for street vendors and a must visit on the weekend, when the plaza appears to be partying. Originally the plaza was the site where textiles were traded, yarn, lace, embroidery, buttons, and everything else that had something to do with the manufacture of apparel.

Reading the travel diaries or hearing...

Reading the travel diaries or hearing the stories of many friends who have been to Valencia, I am always astonished not to find above (going deeper most of the time I find out that they have not even visited) this little square that I instead, remained very impressed by its characteristics and which I found really pretty. Plaza Redonda (Round Square), known by the Valencian as "El Clot" (The Hole) for its particular form, meets walking along the road that joins the most famous [then = 79411] "Plaza del Mercado" [/ then] and "Plaza de la Reina". Along its circumference there are many ceramic workshops, souvenirs and haberdashery ... In fact it is not difficult to find together the craft "bolliteras" (they create with lace plummet) intent to carry out their work. On Sunday we held a popular and typical market. It 's really delicious and if I were you, I would not miss it!

Stresses in the center of the square a fountain installed in 1850 we can put to reach the Central Market Street and walked Trench, in the end we are in the geographic center of the city. Round plaza de valencia. the paradise of seamstresses and weavers.

Cuesta find but worth it. It is locked in the old district, accessed by three passages that cross stone arches. Inside there are several stalls selling lace, embroidery threads, lace, traditional dresses. All very well presented and of high quality and variety. It has business hours as the majority of the seats close between 13 and 16,30hs.

Preciosa plaza

Plaza redonda - place redonda spanish...

Plaza Redonda - Place Redonda Spanish is one of the unusual sites of the Valencian capital. It was built in 1840 by the Valencian architect Salvador Escrig. In the middle stands the fountain installed ten years later. Plaza Redonda is occupied by commercial establishments offering all types of items. Sometimes here you can see the people who sell or offer the animals: kittens, puppies. This is an incredible place that I loved. I recommend you visit.

Charming little square in the historic center of valncia

Walking the streets of Valencia come across an inlet, and as curious, could not fail to discover what it was ... because a small square of circular form super friendly, cute and different. The Plaza Redonda, as the name implies, is circular and is full of shops and bars (which can not miss in a Spanish city) form. A delight to be a little time watching the movement, since the structure of the square helps keep resquinho climate ... one of escapinha calorzão he did.

A round square

Between the Town Hall Square and Cathedral Square lies this little round plaza where a lot of shops and street stalls rodenado a small fountain in the center. When I visited, Saturday noon, all the shops were closed except for one, but when the shops are open much traffic from people interested in selling embroidered here.

What remains is a place with no charm

This was a mythical place, with a special charm and tradition that our beloved mayor has been saddled. I recommend you pass by and you head to the central market and miss the streets of Carmen. If you eat the llibrer tavern.
