After being 8 months without holidays, getting to know the village of Uncastillo has been a breath of fresh air because due to my job, at times I need to relax to be able to think better and this is what I found in the Caserón, the cure (the large breakfasts also helped), also I was surprised again by the superb nature of the Bardenas Reales, something which few people value sufficiently.
From the outside it doesn’t look like a country house, actually it goes completely unnoticed, it is just one more house in Vera de Moncayo, the last house in the street, on a corner of San Sebastián Square.
It’s difficult to make out the small sign which adorns the wall and announces the name and telephone number of the house. The country house is in fact all of the building you see from the outside, there are various rooms and apartments with kitchen, distributed on 3 floors, you get to them by an entrance and common door, well decorated by the way.
We didn’t have to tire ourselves a lot or go upstairs, our apartment was on street level, that is to say on the ground floor. As we entered the apartment on the ground floor, we were left speechless, it’s enormous and very cool! The room had a width and above all an incredible length, with a wooden table where halfof the population of Vera de Moncayo could eat.
Seeing it was so big and coming at a time when it was quite cold, October, we thought that it would be difficult to heat such a big house, but no, for when we arrived, the room and the entire apartment had a perfect temperature. The room had several large radiators and the floor of the bedroom was heated, a very good idea. Being on the ground floor, the living room looked out onto the street, but the village is extremely quite without any noise. Speaking of the living room, through a narrow frame in the shape of an arch you pass into the kitchen, very cosy and very well equipped, with a ceramic hob, a fridge and all kinds of utensils. The kitchen was connected to the bedroom of the apartment, a very spacious bedroom, simple but pretty, with classical touches. Inside the bedroom itself, together with a small mirror and a sink, the Jacuzzi.
We were with our 18 months old daughter and they kindly left a cot ready in the same bedroom with sheets and everything, another large gesture which showed they were well prepared. The only inconvenience of coming with children less than 2 years old to this apartment: once the child is asleep at night in the cot in the bedroom, you have to cook without making much noise, since the kitchen is next to the bedroom, and no matter how tightly the door is closed, you can hear everything. It’s something that you don’t think about if you are not a parent.
The bedroom looks out onto a patio and a small garden, in the open air, which we couldn’t enjoy due to the time of the year, but in good weather, it has tables and chairs where you can relax, have breakfast, lunch and dinner, surely a good plan.
We enjoyed our stay in the house, the sensation of comfort and feeling of being at home is very nice, and in this country house, at least in this apartment where we were, they achieved it.
Regarding the price, it was quite good, because being an apartment, it is always more expensive than a room, which I think was a reasonable price, but for what was offered, it wasn’t expensive. If I return to the area it is an accommodation option which I would choose again, and actually I recommend it, I didn’t see the other rooms and apartments, but I can truly say the apartment that we were in was incredible.
