This very new and modern hotel is one of the latest by the Barceló chain. It is on the outskirts of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències (city of arts and sciences complex) in Valencia, with beautiful views towards the latter.
It is a four star hotel, five minutes’ walk from the Calatrava complex and the palace of the arts, but a bit away from the rest. For almost everything, you have to take either a taxi or bus, with a little luck many pass by and it’s easy to locate. In five minutes you’re at the beach, and in ten or fifteen, the historic centre. The metro is a bit far.
The hotel has 187 rooms, of which some are suites with internet, telephone and cable TV.
To eat, you have access to three restaurants, one for breakfast, one for other meals, traditional Mediterranean, and another modern one with a panoramic bar overlooking the city of the arts. There is a gym, a spa, and even chocolate therapy! Everything based on health and well-being.
The hotel is very nice, and has a great location, next to the City of Arts and Sciences. I didn't like the main entry door, because you have to wait outside for the woman on reception to let you in. Still, the only really important issue is the walls: they are plastic! I was unlucky enough to have a snorer in the room next door, so it was impossible to sleep. We called reception to see if we could change rooms but were told they could not do anything, it was impossible (since it was 3 in the morning) ... the breakfast buffet wasn't great either. But for a very short trip or a business trip, it might be worth staying in.
We spent a few days in Valencia to visit The City of Arts and Sciences, so we stayed at the Hotel Valencia Center located just a 5 minutes' walk away. There's a bus stop right at the door that taked you to the city center, but you could also walk there in about 15 minutes. There's a Corte Ingles department store and 4-story shopping mall next to the hotel. The staff are professional and friendly. We paid €50.00 for 2 people.
A city hotel with 174 rooms and all the amenities and services that you'd expect from the AC Hotels chain. It has a convenient location close to many landmarks that you might want to see, such as the City of Arts and Sciences, the Oceanographic, the Palau de la Música, the Malvarrosa beach, and close to F1 Urban Circuit (Cheste), the city's motor racing circuit. In addition, the Hotel AC Valencia is located near one of the emerging areas of business and city offices. The hotel offers guests a wide variety of amenities including: fitness centre, terrace and sauna. There are many spacious rooms designed and equipped for holding all kinds of seminars, conferences, and other social events that require the service of one of the best hotels in the city.
Abba Acteon Hotel Valencia is out of town, a bit far from downtown if you want to walk, but very convenient if you want to visit the City of Arts and Sciences. It's in a modern, quiet neighbourhood, and the rooms are pretty large. The price isn't unfair for a 4 star hotel - 75 euros per night for a double room, without breakfast. The room had two beds, a very large bathroom with tub and shower, a thousand products that other hotels have often stopped putting out, like shampoo, shower caps, shaving cream, etc. In short it was a good experience. Breakfast is served in a buffet style below, we ate well, but we had a lunch and a dinner at the hotel and it was also disappointing. Another negative is the outrageous charge to use the internet, apart from the conference room which is free, 4.50 euros for 45 minutes ..
The hotel is very nice, but there are some things that could stand to be improved. Our room had no wifi and air conditioning, and we could hear the adjoining rooms. The common areas are great with coffee on the ground Primus so you can make coffee anytime. There is a very nice reception. You can find them in social networks.
The Hotel Catalonia Excelsior is located on Paseo del Puerto, an enclave in the city, a 30 minute walk from the beach, downtown or the universities and just a 10 minute walk from The Arts and Sciences complex.
The rooms are quite nice, although it could do with more natural light. The service is also quite good and the staffs are friendly.
The downside is the Internet, where instead of being a service for the customer it is more of a business. 17 euros a day or 88 Euros for a week are the fees offered to customers to get access to the wireless service from the hotel.
Hotel Medium Valencia is a good hotel in Valencia near the City of Arts and Sciences with modern, spacious rooms and bathrooms. It also has free Wifi, and a very generous buffet breakfast. Good choice to enjoy Valencia.
