Banff is the true spirit of the Rockies

Banff is the oldest and probably the best known of Canada's National Parks, and it's where you can find the two postcard-perfect images of the Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise and the Lake Moraine. Banff is also the most-visited National Park in Canada and some of the more popular hiking trails can seem a bit crowded, especially in the peak summer months. But remember, Banff is much more than its two most famous lakes...it's a massive park where you can really get away from it all. Just leave the car and walk out into the forest and you'll find natural areas that are virtually untouched.

If you get off the beaten track you can you find areas like Shadow Lake, which I believe represents the true spirit of the Rockies better than any other. The usual thing to do is to combine a visit to Banff National Park with a visit to the neighboring Jasper National Park and, perhaps, the less-visited but equally interesting Yoho National Park. Admission is $9.80 per day for adults, but you can purchase multiple passes for several days and family passes ideal for groups.

Perfect for lovers of mountain hiking

Banff National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, having been founded in 1885, the oldest national park in Canada. It's located in the Canadian Rockies near Calgary, Alberta. These days, the park is a huge (6,641km²) expanse that's perfect for lovers of mountain hiking like me! Also, don't miss the incredible glaciers along the Icefield Parkway.

The Rocky Mountains National Park, also known as the Banff National Park, is situated in the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Canada. It is situated about 180 kilometers west of Calgary, in the province of Alberta and is a mainly mountainous terrain, with glaciers, fields, coniferous forests and alpine landscapes. This park is surrounded by many other parks, to the west you can find Yoho, Kootenay National Park to the south and southeast you can find the Kananaskis field. The main shopping center of the park is located in the town of Banff, in River Valley. This park is one of the most visited national parks in the world.

Many Aboriginal people used to live here, but they eventually left the land to go to Europe, its main way of life was hunting bison and other animals. Note that this was the first national park in Canada and the second in North America and has been designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO.

The most beautiful of the planet.

I have been fortunate to be able to do the odd trip, and I can say that I shall soon return to Western Canada ... and more specifically to Banff. Other lifestyle. Another philosophy of life. Total connection with the planet. I wish I had the opportunity to someday live there forever.

Banff National Park

Banff National Park
