Park Monument (Aayi Mandapam)

Bharathi Park is also known as the Park of the Government. It's situated in the heart of the French Quarter of Pondicherry and around it you can see a number of historic and government buildings. The Legislature, UCO Bank, the former French governor's palace, the old Hotel Qualité are all found here. In this place there were several forts that were abandoned before becoming a park. It's a popular hangout because the trees are huge and give a lot of shape, You will find anything from kids playing to rickshaw drivers enjoy a nap. During the storm of January 2012, several trees were uprooted and they are still lying on the ground.
